If you can pull the carrier in and out with out a pry bar.you can pretty much guarantee that set-up will be off on the final assembly with the crush sleeve and carrier preload set. This is a PAIN but necessary for the correct set-up of the rear. When checking the pattern of the gear you must set the carrier up as if you were installing it final each time. 002-.003 is about all your gonna get on each side IF THAT. You will never squeeze that thick a shim in on a properly snugged carrier about. The carrier can not be measured with any kind of is just a feel right measurement. AND this is why MOST people stay away from building rear diffs.
